Hello 2018!

IMG_9142It’s a new year folks! A year with much hope and promise to be one of the best years ever for the city of Birmingham and all its surrounding areas! Downtown is more vibrant and exciting than it’s been in many decades. 2017 saw the opening of the Thomas Jefferson tower and its signature restaurant Roots and Revelry. After many months of construction and renovation, the Pizitz Food Hall opened with its many stalls featuring an eclectic variety of cuisines from all over the world.

Several retail shops including Yellowhammer Creative, a shop featuring unique Birmingham souvenirs also opened in the Pizitz building. The Atomic Bar and Lounge, a very special place with retro décor, Birmingham related art work and specialty cocktails opened on 1st Avenue North. The Elyton Hotel opened at the heaviest corner at 1st Avenue North and 20th Street North. The hotel opened in the historical Empire Building. The first floor features The Yard, a fine dining restaurant.  The rooftop of the building features a bar called Moonshine with fantastic views of the city. Shu Shop, Birmingham’s first Japanese style izakaya opened in the theater district near the Historic Alabama and Lyric theaters on 3rd Avenue North. Downtown gained a full service grocery store when Publix opened on 20th Street and 3rd Avenue South.

These, along with many other developments too numerous to name have transformed downtown Birmingham into a bustling modern city with a hip vibe. Along with the many retail, culinary and entertainment improvements have come many real estate developments. You can now live in the middle of it all.
